About Hillside Pet Clinic
In 1984, Hillside Pet Clinic opened its doors in the Independence Park neighborhood. The staff consisted of Dr. Scott Hinckley, owner and veterinarian, as well as Ellen Budahl: receptionist, manager, and licensed technician. Thirty years later, Ellen remains but manages a staff of around twenty rather than just two. The neighborhood has become a vibrant town center in South Anchorage and Hillside Pet Clinic has grown to six veterinarians, six licensed technicians, three full-time receptionists, and one veterinary assistant.
Some milestones along the way include adding a second veterinarian, Dr. Rusty Gump, in 1990, and a third, Dr. Paul Frederickson in 1991. In 2007 Dr. Hinckley retired and Drs. Gump and Frederickson assumed ownership. With continued growth more space was required, and in 2012 we moved to a new and much larger facility across the parking lot from our original hospital. This move increased our number of examination rooms, and the size and quality of our laboratory, treatment, hospitalization, and surgical areas, and added a treatment room for our avian and exotic pets.
These improvements, cutting edge medical resources and the expertise of our medical staff lead to our being sought out by people seeking the best care for their pets in a veterinary practice that is warm and welcoming. We truly value the trust and continued relationships we have with our clients and work to ensure that they feel valued with every visit.
Our veterinarians go to considerable effort to stay current on a wide array of species and variety of topics. They are active members in the following organizations and regularly attend their continuing education conferences.
