Overview:

Using science as a base, the ARAV advances reptile and amphibian medicine, surgery, research, conservation, and pet ownership. They provide programs for preventative medicine, husbandry and scientific research, distribute scientific information through the Journal of Herpetological Medicine and Surgery, and the official publication of the Association, as well as the Annual Conference of the Association. Their strategic plan includes improving the domestic and international visibility of the association, continuing to improve the Journal of Herpetological Medicine and Surgery, increasing the membership value, utilizing technology, and forming conservation initiatives.

The ARAV believes in the highest ethical standards of conduct while pursuing its mission and vision in protecting and promoting the well-being of reptiles and amphibians. Members believe in the dedication to the medical treatment, surgery, captive care, and conservation of these animals, and are integral to the unique and active community.
